This does not seem so hard to do. However it is important to use the glue that fits the material and purpose.
When you want to glue leather on leather and want it to stick forever, it is recommended that you use neoprene glue. Naturally you must roughen the leather before gluing. Put glue on both sides of the leather. Allow the glue to dry (see instruction manual) and press the two sides together. Note: When the leather is glued together it will not part and readjusting the pieces of leather is no longer possible.
When you prefer temporary fixation, for example when the leather will be sown or hand sewed later, rubber cement glue is used. This has the advantage that the leather parts can be moved or replaced when necessary and this glue does not stick to your needle. Even when the glue dried it is possible to part the pieces of leather.
This is only a short summary of the most popular materials and glues. Much more is to be told about gluing, for there are numerous glues and materials to glue. Unfortunately there is not one single glue that fits all gluing purposes.
